Raising anti-violence awareness, this Community Day is highlighting the dangers in West London to young people of joining gangs, the escalation of crime, anti-social and violent behaviour.

Acton Community Day

The Acton Market Community Day will include thought-provoking and inspiration speeches on how families and friends can change the mindset of young peoples disregard for the gift of life and highlight how precious the gift life is. It takes a village to raise a child and this is an opportunity for Acton to talk about how we can help. Talks also will highlight important messages about personal safety and safer communities. This raises awareness of the fact that violence can never be the solution.

A Mother’s Teardrop was set up by Vanessa Hyman in memory of her son Anton Hyman who was murdered in 2004 on Mothers day. Vanessa has campaigned tireless for 20 years to change the hearts and minds of Acton and West London young people with passion. Vanessa says:

“There is no community without unity. If I can change one young person’s mind that violence is not the answer, it will all be worth it.”

Reverend Joseph from St Mary’s Church in Acton will have the church open to visitors with an exhibition to look at. St Marys Acton supports the event with entertainment outside the church to make this a brilliant event.

We held a similar Community event 2023 and 2021, which was a great success and looking forward to having another great day that inspires our community.
