Acton Market has a rich and enduring history, with market activity in the area dating back to medieval times. The 1920s and 1930s were considered a golden era for shopping in Acton, with a vibrant market flourishing on Crown Street. However, this market eventually closed, leaving the town without a central hub for traders for many years.
The modern Acton Market we know and love today was born out of a community desire to bring back this tradition. In 2005, it was relaunched by Action West London, a local charity and social enterprise. The mission was to not only revive the town’s trading heritage but also to provide opportunities for local entrepreneurs and help regenerate the town centre. Today, the market stands as a testament to that vision, providing a diverse and welcoming space for both traders and shoppers.
